SoloPoint Saw Latest Medtech Innovations At MD&M West 2015

The Medical Device and Manufacturing (MD&M) West Show held its annual conference on February 9th to the 11th at the Anaheim Convention Center, celebrating its 30th year of exhibiting the newest in the medical technology (medtech) field.

As a provider of engineering talent for the medtech community, SoloPoint has been a frequent attendant of this conference to stay updated on new design concepts, production processes and even regulations that play integral roles in the medical device industry.

SoloPoint Costa Mesa Team attended the MD&M West Show. Seen here are (From left to right) Ryan Golod, Katherine Mahshi, Tom Sons and Samantha Krolikowski.

This year’s exhibits were as diverse as the medtech field itself. The products ranged in different sizes, functions and materials used.  Here are some exhibits that stood out to the SoloPoint Team:

Exhbitor: Duke Empirical

Website: www.dukeempirical.com

Services: Specialized engineering and manufacturing of catheters for medical devices

Duke Empirical designs and manufactures catheters specifically made for medical procedures that may deal with interventional cardiology, neurology, vascular therapy and any other procedures that require high precision and minimal invasion.

Tom Sons, COO of SoloPoint, said, “It is great to know that there is a robust medical device manufacturer located in Northern California.  Duke’s expertise is impressive – from design of complex surgical devices to its ability to manufacture devices using exotic materials such as Nitinol.  Many of our start-up clients will appreciate such a capable local vendor.”

Exhibitor: Purple Platypus

Website: www.purpleplatypus.com

Products: Stratasys 3D Printers, Roland Benchtop Mills and SpaceClaim: 3D Modeling

Purple Platypus is a distributor of multiple 3D Printing Systems that is changing how engineers design products for all industries. As told by Purple Platypus, these 3D Printers are already being actively used by companies within the medical device, automobile, consumer electronics industry and even individual consumers.

Samantha Krolikowski, SoloPoint Account Manager, said, “They provide a solution that allows their clients to create rapid prototypes in-house.  The products they showed varied from movie props, cell phone cases, and even fashion accessories.”
